Overview
- A point-machine failure at Vasai Road detained Up fast trains after it failed at 4:46 am and staff manually clamped the points to restore movement.
- Separate point faults at Dadar (about 10:10 am) and Goregaon (about 10:22 am) disrupted fast and Harbour-line flows and were attended and reset within tens of minutes to roughly an hour.
- Around 11:53 am a piece of construction material from MRVC deck/FOB work fell onto the overhead equipment near Mulund, causing heavy arcing, smoke and a precautionary shutdown that was cleared and services resumed by about 12:17 pm.
- The incidents produced crowding, longer journeys and timetable changes with Western Railway cancelling roughly 45 local trips and Central Railway reporting several delayed trains.
- Railway teams carried out on‑site fixes, controls have launched inquiries and action against the contractor involved, and officials say the episode highlights how point, signalling and OHE faults can rapidly cascade across the dense suburban network.
