Pogačar Reclaims Yellow as Evenepoel Wins Caen Time Trial

Finishing second in the 33 km Caen time trial secured Pogačar a 42-second overall advantage over stage winner Remco Evenepoel.

  • Remco Evenepoel dominated Stage 5’s flat 33 km individual time trial in Caen, clocking 36 minutes 42 seconds to beat Pogačar by 16 seconds.
  • Tadej Pogačar’s runner-up performance was enough to vault him into the overall lead, reversing his tie with Mathieu van der Poel and claiming the yellow jersey.
  • Jonas Vingegaard struggled in the time trial, losing over a minute and dropping to fourth, 1 minute 13 seconds behind Pogačar.
  • Mathieu van der Poel ceded 1 minute 28 seconds in Caen to fall to sixth on GC, ending his stint in yellow.
  • Riders now head into the mountain stages where Pogačar must defend his lead against his closest rivals.
