Overview
- UAE Team Emirates officially named Tadej Pogačar in its Vuelta squad and listed support riders including João Almeida, Jay Vine, Ivo Oliveira and Pavel Sivakov.
- Race organisers published a route that begins in Monaco and finishes in Granada, routing the race along the Spanish coast into Andalusia.
- The Vuelta is the only Grand Tour Pogačar has not yet won and he previously rode the race in 2019, when he finished third and won three mountain stages.
- Several reports say some of Pogačar’s top Tour rivals are unlikely to start the Vuelta, a developing and unconfirmed factor that would alter the competitive field.
- If he wins, Pogačar could join the small group of riders who have won all three Grand Tours and he would be among the few to take the Tour and Vuelta in the same season, which would reshape late-season race dynamics.
