Overview
- Sébastien Pocognoli has picked a 28‑player first squad that hands full senior call‑ups to Sevilla striker Robbie Ure and Sassuolo forward Kieron Bowie and recalls Oli McBurnie.
- The goalkeeper position remains unsettled with Angus Gunn now playing in MLS, Craig Gordon retired, Liam Kelly yet to feature for Rangers and Scott Bain listed among the alternatives.
- Defensive selection points to turnover as established players face the risk of omission while younger or in‑form options such as Josh Doig, Colby Donovan and Luke Graham have been included.
- Lawrence Shankland is absent due to ACL surgery so Pocognoli has picked multiple striking alternatives, including McBurnie, James Wilson and the uncapped Ure, to cover Scotland’s forward line.
- The squad will prepare for four Nations League matches later this month and the call‑ups reflect Pocognoli’s early move toward a more possession‑based, pressing style and longer‑term rebuilding for Euro 2028.
