Pocher–Düren Trial Opens in Cologne Over Alleged Video Extortion

The case centers on a disputed video that Pocher says was used to damage his career.

Overview

  • Proceedings began Wednesday at the Amtsgericht Köln over Pocher’s claim that Düren tried to leverage a private clip of an argument with ex-partner Amira Aly to harm his reputation and work.
  • Testifying via video link, Düren said Aly sent him the clip, he discussed it with her, then deleted it, and he denied forwarding it to anyone.
  • The court reviewed a WhatsApp message attributed to Düren to Pocher’s manager stating that a first video was out and that he had warned Pocher.
  • Pocher alleges the clip was shared or flagged to industry figures including Michael “Bully” Herbig, RTL executive Inga Leschek, and Banijay CEO Marcus Wolter; Düren disputes sending it to them or even knowing some of them.
  • TV producer Georg Kappenstein said Düren alerted him to the video but he did not view it, and the court plans to hear witnesses in the coming weeks after Pocher was not heard on the first day.
