Overview
- At a general council and executive committee meeting in Salem on December 29, PMK unanimously chose S. Ramadoss as party president.
- Delegates empowered Ramadoss to decide the party’s alliance for next year’s Tamil Nadu Assembly election.
- The meeting also elected G.K. Mani as honorary president and named Ramadoss’ daughter Sreegandhi Parasuraman as working president.
- Sreegandhi will additionally lead Pasumai Thayagam, replacing Sowmiya, the wife of Anbumani Ramadoss.
- The changes follow months of infighting in which Anbumani was expelled, received a legal notice barring use of party name and symbol, and continued to claim the presidency with support from three legislators, while five MLAs backed the founder.
