Overview
- Finance Ministry data marks more than 56 crore Jan Dhan accounts with deposits of about Rs 2.68 lakh crore, with 67% in rural or semi-urban areas and 56% held by women.
- Over 38 crore RuPay debit cards have been issued, and digital transactions reached 22,198 crore in 2024–25, with RuPay PoS and e-commerce transactions rising to 93.85 crore from 67 crore in FY2017–18.
- About Rs 6.9 lakh crore was delivered via Direct Benefit Transfer in FY2024–25 using the JAM (Jan Dhan–Aadhaar–Mobile) framework.
- The ongoing outreach schedules at least one camp in each of the 2.7 lakh gram panchayats to open accounts, update KYC and nominations, and enroll eligible citizens in Jansuraksha schemes.
- Jan Dhan accounts offer zero-balance banking, a free RuPay card with Rs 2 lakh accident insurance, and an overdraft facility up to Rs 10,000, serving as gateways to insurance and pension coverage.
