Overview
- A shallow westerly wave is projected to approach upper Pakistan from January 16 to 19 with light to moderate snowfall and intermittent rain in Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir and parts of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
- Murree and the Galiyat are likely to see light rain and snow from January 18 to 20 ahead of the stronger phase.
- From January 20 to 23, widespread rain and thunderstorms are expected across GB, AJK, Islamabad, Punjab and KP with occasional gaps.
- Heavy snowfall from the night of January 20 through January 23 may trigger road closures, slippery conditions, landslides and avalanches, and the PMD advises avoiding unnecessary travel to hilly areas.
- Balochistan is forecast to receive rain on January 21–22, while Sindh, including Karachi and Hyderabad, is likely to see rain on January 22–23; daytime temperatures will fall and persistent fog should ease in several regions.
