PMD Forecasts Hot, Dry Weekend Nationwide With Isolated Punjab Storms Tonight
A shallow westerly trough is triggering isolated evening storms in parts of Punjab.
Overview
- Most areas, including Islamabad, the Punjab and KP plains, Balochistan, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, are expected to stay mainly hot and dry on Saturday.
- Coastal Sindh will be mostly hot and dry with partly cloudy skies along the shoreline, according to the PMD.
- PMD flagged Friday night potential for isolated rain, wind and thunderstorms in Lahore and districts such as Gujranwala, Sialkot, Jhelum, Chakwal and Narowal.
- Over the last 24 hours, localized downpours were recorded including 70 mm in Sargodha, 15 mm in Pattan, 9 mm in Murree and lower amounts at several other stations.
- Lahore hit 37°C on Friday and is forecast to reach 37–39°C this weekend, with Bahawalpur at 40°C and national highs reaching 41°C in Nokkundi and 40°C in Dalbandin.
