PM Modi to Inaugurate SEMICON India 2026 and Host CEOs Roundtable

The government plans to use the event to convert early factory openings into partnerships under a newly approved Semicon 2.0 package.

Overview

  • SEMICON India will run Sept. 17–19 at Yashobhoomi and will be opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi after a PM‑chaired CEOs roundtable on Sept. 16.
  • Organisers expect more than 240 international companies, over 500 exhibitors and delegations from 40-plus countries, with country and state pavilions and startup showcases.
  • Three projects from the first Semicon 1.0 round are already in commercial production and officials say two to three more facilities could start by the end of 2026, with Tata‑Powerchip targeting its first on‑shore chip in December.
  • The Union Cabinet approved Semicon 2.0 with an increased outlay of Rs 1,27,500 crore to expand support across chip design, fabs, advanced packaging, equipment, materials, R&D and talent development.
  • Officials expect company deals and technology partnerships to be announced at the event and say the show will spotlight India’s push to double its domestic chip market and build a manufacturing workforce and research capacity for longer‑term ecosystem growth.
