PM Modi Inaugurates Pune Metro's District Court-Swargate Stretch, Sets Stage for Major Infrastructure Boost

The new metro section is part of a ₹11,200 crore investment in Maharashtra, including the foundation for the Swargate-Katraj extension and other key projects.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Pune Metro section from District Court to Swargate, completing Phase 1 of the project.
The newly opened 3.64 km underground stretch includes stations at Budhwar Peth, Mandai, and Swargate, enhancing connectivity in densely populated areas.
A new ridership target of 2 lakh passengers per day has been set, with plans to introduce feeder bus and auto services to boost numbers.
Modi also laid the foundation stone for the Swargate-Katraj extension, a 5.46 km underground route, expected to cost ₹2,955 crore.
Additional projects include the inauguration of Solapur Airport and the dedication of the Bidkin Industrial Area, aimed at boosting regional economic growth.
