PM Modi Inaugurates Bengaluru’s Yellow Line Metro, Flags Off Vande Bharat Trains

Overview

  • The Yellow Line spans 19.15 km from R.V. Road (Ragigudda) to Bommasandra with 16 stations and was built at a cost of approximately Rs 7,160 crore.
  • Operations on the new corridor will start this week, boosting Bengaluru’s operational metro network beyond 96 km and serving thousands of daily commuters in the city’s southern districts.
  • Three Vande Bharat Express trains connecting BengaluruBelagavi, AmritsarShri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, and Nagpur (Ajni)–Pune were flagged off at KSR Bengaluru Railway Station.
  • Laying the foundation stone for Metro Phase-3 marks the launch of a Rs 15,611 crore, 44 km expansion that will add 31 elevated stations to Bengaluru’s rapid transit footprint.
  • After nearly four years of delays from land acquisition disputes, COVID-19 interruptions, and rolling-stock supply setbacks, final trainsets supplied by Titagarh Rail Systems enabled the line’s completion.
