PM Modi Honored During Mauritius Visit, Highlights Deep India-Mauritius Ties

Prime Minister Modi's two-day state visit underscores cultural, historical, and strategic bonds between India and Mauritius, with major bilateral initiatives announced.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred Mauritius' highest civilian honor, 'The Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean,' recognizing India-Mauritius historical and cultural ties.
PM Modi emphasized the shared heritage and deep-rooted connections between the two nations, describing Mauritius as 'family' and a key partner in India's SAGAR vision for regional growth and security.
During the visit, Modi announced the extension of Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cards to the seventh generation of the Indian diaspora in Mauritius, reinforcing cultural and people-to-people links.
The visit included the inauguration of over 20 India-funded development projects, including a Civil Services College and health infrastructure, aimed at strengthening Mauritius' capacity-building and community development.
Modi will participate as Chief Guest in Mauritius' National Day celebrations on March 12, marking the country's independence and republic status, with Indian Navy contingents also partaking in the event.
