PM Internship Scheme Tops 360,000 Completions as Budget Rises to ₹10,800 Crore

More than one million young people have applied for paid internships under the scheme’s pilot phase.

PM Internship Scheme Sees 33% Offer Acceptance in Pilot Rounds

Overview

  • Pilot rounds have posted over 245,000 paid internships and attracted more than 1.076 million applications according to July data
  • Authorities have issued around 153,000 internship offers, of which 50,726 have been accepted, marking roughly one-third uptake
  • In Round 1, 621,000 applications led to 82,000 offers with 28,000 acceptances and 8,700 joiners while Round 2 saw over 455,000 applications, 71,000 offers and 22,584 acceptances as of July 17
  • More than 360,000 internships have been completed nationwide and corporate participation has grown to 327 firms across 735 districts
  • The FY26 allocation was raised to ₹10,800 crore, funding a ₹6,000 one-time grant and a ₹5,000 monthly stipend shared between government and CSR contributions
