Plusnet Starts £4 Broadband Price Rise for Over One Million Customers

Consumers are being urged to review contracts or switch to smaller providers that guarantee no mid-contract price rises under the new Ofcom mandate.

Overview

  • Plusnet has imposed its £4 monthly broadband increase on more than one million existing subscribers today, with out-of-contract customers seeing the rise immediately and those within minimum 24-month terms facing the change from March 31, 2026.
  • BT and EE have set the same £4 mid-contract broadband hike for all new customer deals from July 31 in line with Ofcom’s disclosure requirements.
  • EE Sim-only and Flex Pay mobile plans signed since July 31 will carry a £2.50 monthly increase from March 2025, representing a 13.8% rise on its cheapest £18 plan.
  • Ofcom’s summer enforcement secured an £18 million compensation fund for unclear inflation-linked hikes and now requires providers to specify exact pound-and-pence increases and timing.
  • Which? and other consumer advocates recommend that customers shop around and consider regional ISPs and mobile operators such as YouFibre, Trooli, Lebara and Smarty that maintain fixed pricing.
