Pleasanton Man Arrested on Homicide Charges After Suspected Explosives Found

Authorities say there is no ongoing threat after county bomb squads removed the devices

  • Pleasanton police responded around 9:40 p.m. Friday to the 4600 block of Helpert Court and found a man suffering from gunshot wounds who later died at a hospital.
  • Twenty-nine-year-old Lucas Chan was arrested at the scene and booked into Santa Rita Jail on homicide charges.
  • Investigators discovered what appeared to be improvised explosive devices in Chan’s home and the Alameda County Sheriff’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team safely removed them.
  • Chan has been ordered held without bail and is scheduled for arraignment on Wednesday.
  • Police have not released the victim’s identity and are asking anyone with information to contact the Pleasanton Police Department.
