Overview

• Pleasanton police identified the victim as 61-year-old Lance Chan and named his son, 28-year-old Lucas Chan, as the suspected shooter near the 4600 block of Helpert Court on Aug. 15.
• Police arrested Lucas Chan on Friday and booked him into Alameda County’s Santa Rita Jail, where he is being held without bail.
• An arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday morning, and charges include first-degree murder, possession of a destructive device and making a destructive device without a permit.
• Investigators say they found suspected improvised explosive devices at his home, which the county bomb squad removed as ATF-assisted teams recovered a 3D printer and multiple unregistered ghost guns.
• Police cited preliminary accounts of a preceding verbal dispute, reported no known threat to public safety, and asked anyone with information to call 925-931-5100.
