Overview

  • Plaza Italia station on Line D closed on August 11 for a three-month overhaul and is slated to resume service in mid-November.
  • Upgrades include waterproofing works, new aluzinc wall and ceiling panels, granite floor and stair coverings, LED lighting and refreshed signage with Braille.
  • Passengers will benefit from new platform furniture such as benches, waste bins and leaning posts designed to improve order and comfort.
  • Professional restorers will conserve eight historic murals and rehabilitate original ceramic tiles across vestibules and platforms.
  • This renovation is the latest phase of SBASE’s Plan de Renovación Integral de Estaciones, which has already modernized over 11 metro stations and 13 Premetro stops in Buenos Aires.
