PlayStation Portal Officially Adds PS5 Cloud Streaming, No Console Required

The rollout requires a PlayStation Plus Premium subscription, gating access behind Sony’s top membership tier.

Overview

  • Cloud Streaming is now live following a year-long beta, with the feature switching on Nov. 5 at 6 p.m. PT (Nov. 6 at 2 a.m. GMT) in roughly 30 countries.
  • Thousands of compatible PS5 games are supported at launch—reported around 2,700 to 2,845—including select digital titles users own plus games from the PS Plus Game and Classics catalogs.
  • Availability varies by title, region and entitlements, so not every owned PS5 game can be streamed on the handheld.
  • A redesigned interface adds distinct Remote Play, Cloud Streaming and Search tabs, with Search helping users find streamable games.
  • New capabilities include 3D audio support, a passcode lock, a network status screen, in‑game purchases during streams, accessibility options and multiplayer invites, and gameplay works without a powered‑on PS5 though performance depends on connection quality.
