Overview
- An alpha Playden release now runs on jailbroken PS5s and can sign into Steam, download titles and create a separate PS5 home-screen app for each installed game.
- The current public build uses a PS5 port of Wine called prospero-win with DXVK for Direct3D 8–11 and VKD3D‑Proton for Direct3D 12 to translate Windows graphics calls to the console.
- Recent updates added Direct3D 12 support plus USB and FTP game import, 120Hz output and a 4K resolution option, but those features are experimental and may not work for every title.
- Compatibility is uneven: older and indie games like Half-Life 2, Portal 2, Fallout: New Vegas and Hollow Knight have been reported to run while many modern or DRM/anti-cheat titles fail to start or crash.
- Using Playden requires a jailbroken PS5 and carries practical and security risks because the project is unofficial, Valve does not support it, the Steam session token is stored unencrypted and running games can obtain elevated console rights.
