Overview
- Mexico recorded a net increase of 21,750 formal jobs in August and 23,533,731 total affiliations associated to an employer, with 22,454,917 reported as positions.
- In the pilot’s second month, 980,471 platform beneficiaries were registered and only 133,178 people (13.6%) qualified for full IMSS benefits by exceeding the net monthly income threshold; the rest remained covered only for work-related risks.
- Platform affiliations declined from about 1,291,365 in July to 1,211,992 in August, a drop of 79,373.
- Economist Gabriela Siller noted that without the 133,178 platform posts counted as jobs, August would have shown an estimated net loss of 57,960 IMSS-registered positions.
- The average IMSS base salary reached 630.7 pesos per day, up 7.4% year over year, with annual job growth led by transport and communications (+8.8%) and followed by commerce and electricity (+2.3% each).
