Planned Water Shutoffs Expand: Sedapal Extends Lima Works as Tijuana, Mexico City Detail Outages

Officials describe the shutdowns as preventive maintenance to protect water quality.

  • In Lima, Sedapal carried out Jan. 6 cuts in Carabayllo, Villa El Salvador and Villa María del Triunfo, and scheduled additional interruptions for Jan. 7 in Villa María del Triunfo (11:00–17:00, Sector 308) and Jan. 8 in Carabayllo (12:00–20:00, Sector 357).
  • Sedapal urged residents to store water, prioritize essential use and contact its Aquafono at 01-317-8000 for assistance.
  • In Tijuana and Playas de Rosarito, CESPT will halt service in 691 colonias starting Jan. 8 at 00:00 for a 54-hour Florido–Aguaje aqueduct interconnection, with about 36 hours of recovery after Saturday’s reopening, according to director Jesús García Castro.
  • Mexico City’s SEGIAGUA announced maintenance outages affecting colonias in Iztapalapa, Benito Juárez and Milpa Alta from Jan. 6 to as late as Jan. 19, with free tanker requests available via the H2O Line (*426) and status updates on the SACMEX portal.
  • In Mexicali, CESPM set a Jan. 7 suspension in the Oviedo Mota area from 9:00 to 15:00 alongside a traffic closure at Calzada Independencia, while in Acapulco more than 400,000 people remain without water after the Jan. 2 quake, with repairs on Papagayo II expected to take roughly 8–10 days.
