Planned Water Shutdowns Sweep Peru and Mexico as Acapulco Works to Restore Quake-Hit Supply

Overview

  • Sedapal’s rolling cuts in Lima continue January 7 in Villa María del Triunfo (11:00–17:00) and are scheduled January 8 in Carabayllo (12:00–20:00) for reservoir cleaning and pipeline connections, with queries directed to Aquafono (01) 317-8000.
  • Acapulco’s water service remains severely disrupted after the January 2 quake, with CAPAMA estimating repairs to main systems including Papagayo II will take about 8–10 days as more than 400,000 residents await restoration.
  • CESPT will halt supply to 691 colonias in Tijuana and Playas de Rosarito from 00:00 on January 8 for Acueducto Florido–Aguaje interconnection work, planning 54 hours of technical tasks plus roughly 36 hours for network recovery.
  • Mexico City’s water authority announced maintenance-related outages in select Iztapalapa, Benito Juárez and Milpa Alta colonias from January 6 to dates up to January 19, with free tanker service available via the H2O line at *426.
  • Additional planned work includes a January 7 suspension in parts of Mexicali’s colonia Oviedo Mota during a line entronque, alongside a temporary road closure at Calzada Independencia and Venustiano Carranza for infrastructure inspections.
