  • Chawla announced on June 6 that he is retiring from all international and domestic cricket, capping a career that began with his Test debut at age 17 in 2006.
  • He claimed two World Cup winners’ medals as part of India’s 2007 T20 squad and 2011 ODI team, taking 43 wickets in Tests, ODIs and T20Is between 2006 and 2012.
  • The leg-spinner amassed exactly 192 wickets in 192 IPL appearances for Punjab Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians.
  • Chawla’s domestic exploits for Uttar Pradesh produced more than 1,000 wickets across first-class, List A and T20 formats, with his final outing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in November 2024.
  • In his retirement statement on Instagram, he thanked his coaches, IPL franchises, cricket associations and his family with a special tribute to his late father.
