Overview

  • Google confirmed via an X post that WhatsApp calling over satellite arrives for the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL and Pixel 10 Pro Fold on August 28.
  • The capability works when there is no cellular or Wi‑Fi coverage by routing WhatsApp voice and video calls through a satellite connection.
  • At launch the feature is exclusive to the Pixel 10 series, with access dependent on participating carriers and possibly subject to extra charges.
  • Reporting attributes the implementation to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Satellite platform, and WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption is expected to remain in place.
