Overview

  • Voice Translate lets the other person hear a version of your voice in their language, while you hear a similar rendering of theirs alongside an on-screen transcript.
  • The translation runs entirely on-device using Gemini Nano on the Tensor G5 and is limited to Pixel 10 hardware, though the other caller can use any phone.
  • Supported pairs at launch cover English to and from French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Swedish.
  • Google says audio from the brief voice enrollment is not stored, a claim hands-on reports note but have not independently verified.
  • The Phone app update also introduces Take a Message for background call answering with live transcription and Magic Cue for surfacing reservation details during calls.
