Pixar’s ‘Elio’ Lands on Digital With Bonus Features That Reveal Earlier Versions

The at-home rollout leans on extensive extras to reframe a well-reviewed film that struggled in theaters.

Overview

  • The movie is now available to buy for $29.99 or rent for $24.99 on Prime Video, Apple TV and Fandango at Home.
  • A 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD release arrives Sept. 9, with a limited edition SteelBook offered at select retailers.
  • Hours of extras include featurettes, a gag reel, Easter egg spotlights and deleted scenes titled Bike Chase, Garden Party, Carver Legend, Questa’s Second Test and Home Visit.
  • Newly shared scenes highlight earlier directions such as a three-tests structure, Camp Carver material and a version where Olga was written as Elio’s mother before the story refocused on Aunt Olga.
  • The film earned strong Rotten Tomatoes scores despite a $147 million worldwide gross against a reported $150 million budget, and a Disney+ streaming date has not yet been announced.
