Pittsburgh Police Issue Warrants After Video Shows 19-Year-Old in Zoo Elephant Enclosure

Police say a social-media video led to charges over the risky trespass.

Overview

  • Noah Thomas, 19, of Austintown, Ohio, is charged over a Sept. 21 incident at the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium, and a warrant also names companion Adrianna Marsco.
  • Counts include third-degree felonies for causing or risking catastrophe, criminal trespass and conspiracy, plus misdemeanors for reckless endangerment and cruelty to animals, along with theft of services.
  • Investigators cite a video posted to Instagram and still visible on TikTok showing Thomas jumping a barrier as the elephant rams a gate and throws its trunk toward him.
  • Police say Thomas and a woman entered through a temporary exit without tickets during remodeling, with about 25 adults and children present in the elephant barn.
  • Zoo security located the pair in the aquarium area, escorted them out and recorded their vehicle’s license plate; as of Saturday, Thomas had not been taken into custody.
