• Police identified the victim as Rakesh Ehagaban, 51, the manager of the Pittsburgh Motel in Robinson Township.
• Surveillance and arrest papers say he asked, “Are you alright, bud?” before 37-year-old Stanley Eugene West walked up and shot him in the head at close range.
• Investigators report West had just shot a woman sitting in a car with a child present; the woman is in critical condition and the child was unharmed.
• West fled in a U-Haul and was tracked to Pittsburgh’s East Hills, where he exchanged gunfire with officers; a detective was wounded and is recovering at home, and West was shot and hospitalized.
