Overview
- Each tyre set is restricted to 25 laps across the entire weekend, turning the 57-lap grand prix into a minimum two-stop race.
- Laps are counted cumulatively across all timed sessions, including running under Safety Car and Virtual Safety Car conditions.
- Formation laps, laps to the grid and laps completed after the chequered flag do not count toward a set’s total.
- The measure was agreed by the FIA, Formula 1 and the teams, and Pirelli will tell each team before the race how many laps remain on every set.
- Pirelli brings the C1/C2/C3 compounds, and the 19-lap sprint will not require pit stops; Lusail previously had an 18-lap cap in 2023 due to kerb-related damage.
