Overview
- The second in-season Pirelli tyre test took place at the Red Bull Ring on Monday with 18 riders using a mix of prototype 850cc machines and suitably adapted 1000cc bikes.
- Pirelli said the feedback was broadly positive, with riders reporting improved grip and stability across soft, medium and hard slick compounds.
- The session was closed to media and run without official timing or transponders, so it remains unclear which riders used 850cc prototypes and which rode adapted 1000cc machines.
- Several factories barred some contracted riders from taking part, while KTM permitted Pedro Acosta and Brad Binder to test despite both riders changing teams for 2027.
- The in-season programme will feed into the first official, fully timed Pirelli/850cc test for the complete 2027 grid in Valencia on 1 December 2026.
