The Pittsburgh Pirates have agreed to a one-year, $8 million deal with left-handed pitcher Martin Perez, pending a physical.
Perez, a World Series winner with Texas in November, becomes the second left-handed starter to join Pittsburgh in recent weeks, following the acquisition of Marco Gonzales from Atlanta.
The Pirates are looking to build on a 15-win improvement in 2023, which was their best season since 2018.
Perez had a 10-4 record with a 4.45 ERA in 35 games for the Rangers last season, and was an All-Star in 2022.
The Pirates' rotation has been hampered by injuries, with JT Brubaker and Johan Oviedo both recovering from Tommy John surgery.
