Pirates Finalize Two-Year Deal With Ryan O’Hearn

The 32-year-old left-handed hitter is expected to boost Pittsburgh’s offense through positional versatility across first base, corner outfield, DH.

The team announced Thursday that it signed O’Hearn to a two-year contract, and he will wear No. 29.
O’Hearn split 2025 between the Orioles and Padres and set career highs in hits (133), games (144), home runs (17), RBI (63), runs (67), on-base percentage (.366) and total bases (207).
He recorded six outs above average in 75 games last season, tying for the fourth-best mark among first basemen per Baseball Savant.
In his introduction, O’Hearn said he is thrilled to join Pittsburgh and views the club as one or two pieces from legitimate contention.
Reports in late December placed the deal at roughly $29 million over two years, a figure not specified in the Pirates’ official announcement.
