Overview
- The MTN8 final between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns is scheduled for Saturday, October 10 at Moses Mabhida Stadium with tickets sold out and a 6pm kick-off.
- Orlando Pirates go into the match as slight favourites as they bid to win a record fifth consecutive MTN8 title and carry strong recent form in the competition.
- Mamelodi Sundowns face selection uncertainty after Aubrey Modiba, Teboho Mokoena and Bathusi Aubaas suffered injuries during the recent international window and may miss the final.
- The recent FIFA break saw many players from both clubs line up together for Bafana Bafana, producing confidence for some players and returns to full training for Evidence Makgopa and Thalente Mbatha at Pirates.
- The fixture carries heavy MTN8 history — Pirates are unbeaten against Sundowns in their last six MTN8 meetings and the same venue staged a goalless 2023 final decided on penalties.
