- Latest DWP figures to the end of July show 3.83 million PIP claimants in England and Wales plus 484,055 people on Scotland’s Adult Disability Payment, totaling 4,311,058 recipients.
- Psychiatric disorders account for 39% of recorded conditions, followed by musculoskeletal (general 19% and regional 12%), neurological 13% and respiratory 4%.
- Awards are worth £29.20 to £187.45 a week (£116.80 to £749.80 every four weeks), with 37% of claimants receiving the highest level of support.
- Social Security Scotland reports that 35% of ADP recipients are new applicants and 65% transferred from DWP PIP.
- Official guidance confirms PIP or ADP can passport people to support such as Carer’s Allowance, Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction, Universal Credit and, where daily living applies, Pension Credit, with some entitlements backdated to the award start.
