Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Enforce Peak-Hour One-Way on WakadHinjawadi Bridge

A time-bound one-way scheme offers peak-hour relief pending longer-term fixes.

Overview

  • In a new traffic plan, the bridge runs one-way from Wakad to Hinjawadi between 8 am and 12 pm, with three lanes assigned in that direction and a single counterflow lane.
  • From 4 pm to 10 pm, the configuration reverses for the evening exit from the IT park, shifting three lanes toward Wakad and keeping one lane toward Hinjawadi.
  • Police also reworked access on the Katraj–Dehu Road Bypass of the Mumbai–Bengaluru Highway, adding temporary barricades at Bhujbal Chowk and directing exits near the Sayaji and Surya underpasses.
  • Officials said the measures are experimental and invited public feedback through the Hinjawadi Traffic Division and the Traffic Branch office in Chinchwad Gaon.
  • The rollout followed Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey’s third survey of area bottlenecks with #UnclogHinjawadiITPark petitioners, even as citizens press other agencies to expedite ‘missing links’ and warn of agitation if delays persist.
