Pilgrim Surge Crowds Srisailam as Karthika Masam Nears Its Finale

Officials suspended close-contact rites to keep queues moving.

Overview

  • Thousands reached Srisailam ahead of the final Monday of Karthika Masam and stayed overnight for special prayers.
  • Long vehicle queues formed on the ghat road from the early hours, prompting regulated movement throughout the day.
  • The temple opened at 3 a.m., with darshan allowed from 4:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and again from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., the executive officer said.
  • To reduce crowding, Sparsha Darshanam and Arjitha Abhishekams were suspended on Karthika Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays, Ekadashi and Pournami.
  • Additional staff and vigilance teams managed queue lines as food and water were provided, with Deepotsavam arrangements in place and special rites performed at five ancient mutts.
