Overview
- The 4-foot-8 sculpture arrived from the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City and was blessed by its rector, Monsignor Efraín Hernández Díaz.
- Rev. Esequiel Sanchez led a bilingual Mass at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, with music and Danza Azteca Guadalupana marking the public unveiling.
- The statue is installed in St. Joseph Chapel in Des Plaines, where visitors can venerate it through Sept. 30.
- Organizers confirmed the next Illinois stops at St. Gall Parish in Chicago from Oct. 1–14 and Mother of the Americas Catholic Church in Little Village from Oct. 15–28.
- Created by Mexican artist Jorge Ismael Rodríguez, the hyperrealistic image is touring globally with visits planned to Colombia, Puerto Rico and the Philippines.
