Pilgrim Bus Accident in Indian Kashmir Kills 10, Injures 55

A bus carrying Hindu pilgrims skidded off a highway bridge into a gorge in Indian-controlled Kashmir, killing at least 10 people and injuring 55.
The bus was overloaded with pilgrims on their way to a shrine in Katra town that hundreds of thousands of Hindus visit annually.
India has some of the highest road death rates, with most crashes blamed on reckless driving, poorly maintained roads, and aging vehicles.
The victims were from India's eastern Bihar state traveling to the Vaishno Devi shrine, which is highly revered by Hindus.
The accident occured on May 30, 2023 in the Himalayan region of Kashmir, where narrow, winding mountain roads and overloaded vehicles often lead to deadly crashes.
