Pietro Fittipaldi Joins Rahal Letterman Lanigan for 2024 IndyCar Series
Current Haas Formula One reserve driver Fittipaldi to race Rahal Letterman Lanigan's third car, the No. 30 in his first full IndyCar series.
- Pietro Fittipaldi, current reserve driver for the Haas Formula One team and grandson of two-time Indy 500 winner Emerson Fittipaldi, has been hired by Rahal Letterman Lanigan (RLL) for the 2024 IndyCar series.
- Fittipaldi will drive the No. 30 car, previously driven by Jack Harvey. This will be his first full season in the IndyCar series, having made nine career starts in the past, with a best finish of ninth place at Portland in 2018.
- Team owner Bobby Rahal expressed his confidence in Fittipaldi, impressed by his maturity and experience gained in IndyCar during three races for Dale Coyne Racing in 2021, where he managed a 13th place qualification for the Indianapolis 500.
- Fittipaldi's uncle, Max Papis, serves as one of the stewards for the IndyCar series. However, IndyCar confirmed that there will be no modifications to race control, as Papis will not influence any decisions related to Fittipaldi.
- Fittipaldi expressed his pride and excitement for joining RLL, recognizing the challenge presented by the IndyCar series, which he termed 'one of the most competitive and versatile racing series in the world.'
