Pierre Terjanian Named Director and CEO of MFA Boston, Starting July

Following a seven-month search, Terjanian is set to lead the museum during a pivotal period of modernization and recovery.

Pierre Terjanian, currently head of curatorial affairs and conservation at MFA Boston, will assume the role of director and CEO in July 2025.
The selection followed a thorough seven-month search process involving input from over 1,800 staff, trustees, and community stakeholders.
Terjanian brings significant leadership experience from the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Philadelphia Museum of Art, including crisis management and fundraising achievements.
The MFA faces ongoing challenges, including reduced staffing and attendance post-pandemic, while pursuing modernization projects such as a $25 million renovation of its 20th-century art galleries.
Terjanian has emphasized fostering community connections, enhancing the relevance of the museum’s collection, and expanding its role as a cultural destination.
