Olympique Lyonnais officially announced the dismissal of head coach Pierre Sage on January 28, citing recent underwhelming performances.
Sage, who was appointed in late 2023, had successfully guided the team from the bottom of Ligue 1 to a Europa League qualification last season.
The team's recent struggles include five consecutive winless matches, an early Coupe de France exit to a lower-division team, and a 1-1 draw against Nantes on January 26.
Club owner John Textor personally informed Sage of the decision, which also involved the dismissal of key staff members from the coaching team.
Paulo Fonseca, a former coach of Lille and AC Milan, is widely reported as the leading candidate to replace Sage, though no official announcement has been made.
