Pickup Truck Crashes Into Adams County Bar Patio, Injuring Four

A 22-year-old Lakewood man has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence as authorities continue their investigation.

Overview

  • The collision occurred just after midnight Sunday at the Ugly Dog Sports Cafe’s outdoor seating area on Cortez Street, just west of the I-25 and U.S. 36 interchange in Adams County.
  • A gray Chevrolet Silverado veered onto the road shoulder, struck a guardrail and then plowed into the patio, crushing tables and pinning furniture against a metal fence.
  • Four patrons—two women and two men—were hurt, with one man in critical condition, two sustaining serious injuries and one woman suffering minor injuries.
  • Driver Raoul Villa, 22, of Lakewood, was arrested onsite on suspicion of DUI and faces three counts each of vehicular assault while intoxicated and reckless driving causing serious bodily injury.
  • Officials from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office and Colorado State Patrol say the investigation is ongoing and further updates are expected.
