Pickett’s 54th-Minute Winner Ends Pride’s 9-Game Slide in 2-1 Victory at Wave

The victory moved Orlando into fourth place in a tightening playoff race.

  • Carson Pickett came on at halftime for Julie Doyle and scored nine minutes later off an Oihane Hernandez pass to seal the road win.
  • Jacqueline Ovalle netted her first Pride goal in the 7th minute before Dudinha equalized in the 10th after an errant pass from goalkeeper Anna Moorhouse.
  • San Diego out-shot Orlando 16-9 with a 6-2 edge on target, but Moorhouse made five saves, including two in quick succession in the 74th minute.
  • The result snapped Orlando’s nine-match winless run and pushed the Pride to 32 points, one ahead of the Wave, whose skid includes four straight home losses and six matches without a win.
