Pickett Fire Near Calistoga Reaches Nearly 4,000 Acres With 7% Containment

Night operations kept growth inside control lines despite remote, steep terrain.

Overview

  • Cal Fire reported the blaze at 3,993 acres Friday night with containment holding at 7% after a rapid increase from roughly 3,235 acres earlier in the day.
  • New evacuation orders were issued Friday night for zones including POP-E001-B, NPA-E121-C and NPA-E122-B, with additional warnings remaining in effect across adjacent areas.
  • The fire has pushed east into rugged, sparsely populated hills away from Calistoga, and officials reported no injuries or structural losses.
  • Roughly 435 personnel, dozens of engines, hand crews, dozers and water tenders, plus air tankers and night-flying helicopters, continued suppression efforts, supported by a regional incident management team.
  • The Bay Area Air Quality Management District extended an advisory through Saturday as smoke degraded conditions in parts of Napa, Sonoma and Solano counties, with very unhealthy readings near Calistoga reported Friday.
