Overview
- At approximately 5:25am on June 29 a BMW flipped before colliding with the Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain at Piccadilly Circus.
- Passers-by pulled both 22-year-old occupants from the wreck before emergency teams arrived in less than four minutes.
- One occupant remains in life-threatening condition and the other is reported to be in stable condition following hospital treatment.
- Metropolitan Police say the fountain and statue appear undamaged and that no pedestrians or other vehicles were involved in the crash.
- Multiple roads around Piccadilly Circus and an entrance to the Underground station remain closed under police cordon while investigators continue their work.
