Pi Network Sets Aug. 11 Deadline for Protocol 26 Upgrade

The requirement forces Mainnet validators to install the penultimate protocol step, creating a near-term test of demand because large token unlocks are scheduled soon.

Overview

  • Pi Core Team announced on July 29 that all Mainnet node operators must install Protocol 26 by Aug. 11 or risk losing their connection to the blockchain.
  • The Protocol 26 notice confirms that the prior update, version 25, was effectively deployed by validators earlier in the migration sequence.
  • Markets reacted with a short-lived rebound on July 30, sending PI about 7% higher to roughly $0.084–$0.085 as traders bought the upgrade-driven catalyst.
  • Technical indicators show improving short-term momentum but immediate resistance sits near $0.082–$0.085 and a sustained close above $0.085 is needed to target $0.098–$0.10 for a durable reversal.
  • Supply risk remains the main constraint: roughly 128 million PI tokens are scheduled to unlock in August and many more later in the year, which could blunt rallies unless new buyers absorb the extra supply.
