Photographers Sue Kenosha Police Over Use of Excessive Force During 2020 Protests

Two freelance photographers filed a lawsuit alleging that police unlawfully shot them with rubber bullets during a protest in Kenosha, Wisconsin, three years ago.
The protests occurred after a white police officer shot Jacob Blake, a Black man, seven times during a domestic disturbance, leaving Blake paralyzed.
The photographers, Alyssa Schukar and Scott Olson, were covering the protests for the New York Times and Getty Images, respectively.
They claim that police used excessive force, violating their constitutional rights to free speech and due process.
The lawsuit names Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth, former Kenosha Police Chief Daniel Miskinis, and 10 unnamed sheriff deputies and police officers as defendants.
