PhonePe Posts 40% FY25 Revenue Jump as Loss Narrows Ahead of Planned IPO

A new RBI payment-aggregator licence strengthens its push into merchant services.

  • Operating revenue rose to Rs 7,114.9 crore in FY25, while the consolidated net loss narrowed to Rs 1,727.4 crore.

  • Payments contributed about 88.5% of operating revenue, with payment services at Rs 6,299.7 crore and insurance and lending distribution up 208% to Rs 557.6 crore.
  • PhonePe received final RBI authorisation to operate as a payment aggregator and separately faced a Rs 21 lakh penalty related to prepaid instrument compliance.
  • NPCI data for August show roughly 9.15 billion UPI transactions worth Rs 11.99 lakh crore and a market share near 46%, as the company prepares a confidential DRHP targeting a reported $1.2–$1.5 billion raise.
