Overview

• Vruj Patel, 26, was sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court on October 7 to more than 22 years after pleading guilty to 17 sexual offences, including the rape of a child under 13.
• Kishan Patel, 31, received a 15‑month jail term for possessing indecent images of children and is subject to a 10‑year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
• The investigation began when a device left for repair contained videos of abuse; detectives identified Vruj from a brief appearance and matched clothing and jewellery seen in recordings.
• Further material recovered showed the rape of a young woman after a university night out and voyeurism involving a young girl, and Vruj was placed on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely.
• Detectives say most contact offences date to 2018 yet believe there may be additional victims and are urging reports to the Metropolitan Police, including via Operation Castline.
